Well she had her appt at round 9 this mornin n the doctor/specialist whatever said baby a had way too much fluid (back up in the 90s) and then baby bs fluid was way down and the membrane around her is seperating from the placenta so she cant move that much.
so then this after noon she had another amnio drain thing -- and this should let baby b move more. theyre going to keep her in overnight so that they can monitor the babies becouse baby a now has and so does baby b absent diastolic flow and so that kay can be on strict bedrest and protien drink things. oh and she was having some contractions but she didnt know lol so they might be putting her on mag sulfate again and giving the girls steroids to mature their lungs just incase.
shes 25 weeks today yay
i think thats about it -- i'l check back if i remember anything else (Y)

Amnioreduction # 2
Well today had another amnioreduction this time they took off 1.6 liters (!) off the recipient baby. BUT the Dr said after he'd done it he had a problem putting the needle in and he might had ACCIDENTALLY done a septostomy. Thats pretty bad. Having a septostomy means that we arent allowed to have the laser surgery anymore no matter how much my babies might need it. Theres also a risk of damage to the membrane other than the septostomy and when this happens the babies grow together in one sac, making it much more likely that the cords get tangled.. dont even get me started on cords getting tangled..thats really bad.
Oh and if the membrane like shreds it can get tangled on a baby/babies and cause amniotic bands..
Urghh overall im just upset and angry. The septostomy could like if the Drs decided they needed it... which its looking like because the amnios arent really doing much just getting rid of the fluid till it builds up again... the Drs cant do one because of it.. :(
Stupid stupid Dr
Oh yeah and Baby B (donor) might have the membrane seperating from the placenta.. they just off hand said that..
So thats shit me up aswell

Another scan
Just got back from yet another scan lol.. it went alright ishh.
Baby As fluid levels are back up at 91mm (thats an all time high) and Baby Bs are at 26mm (all time high aswell).
Weve got to go have another amnioreduction tomorrow and then we have to go down to Queen Charlottes & Chelsea hospital in London (!) on friday to see a specialist doctor..
And i dont know whether I'll have laser surgery or anything.. just have to wait and see how the amnioreduction goes yet again.. Its all just waiting and seeing really.

Scan
Right went for the scan yesterday... baby B has still got absent end diastolic flow.. poor lil chicken.. but baby As got less fluid now (69mm as opposed to 80 odd and this is 1 day after the amnioreduction) so thats put less pressure on her heart and all that. I also had an echo of both their hearts and theyve both got VSD's :( Also the Drs concerned that baby B might have growth restiction (IUGR). And my tummys still quite sore :(
A ventricular septal defect (VSD) is a defect in the ventricular septum, the wall dividing the left and right ventricles of the heart.

Amnioreduction #1
Just got back from my amnioreduction... it went quite well. It really hurt at first and the fluid wasnt coming out much at the first site so they had to move and do it another site which went much better so it was ok.. my tummys really sore now :( they drained off 1.4liters of fluid (!) off Beau (the poly baby (recipient)) this should leave Blair (oli baby (donor)) with more room to grow and relieve some of the pressure on Beau.
But yeahh back home on bedrest (Y) so it went well enough :) and ive got another scan and doppler tomorrow afternoon and then i can arrange the next amnioreduction or decide what to do next depending on how the babies are doing.

Today
Urghh well today i had my appt at the hospital, another scan and doppler thing. Baby A still has 87mm and Baby B now has 19mm (up 2mm yayy). Baby B (Blair (the donor) also has an absent flow which means... let me explain this lol erm her heart instead of going pump, fill, pump, fill is just going pump, pump, pump so its not getting any rest. She also has a velementous cord insertion which causes intermittent absent diastolic flow. Baby B weighs around 450g and Baby A weighs around 625g so they have a 38% discordance. This now means we have Stage III TTTS :(
The doctor says that for laser sugery i will have to be referred to a hospital in London or Birmingham and as the twins arent looking so good at the moment he wants to do an amnioreduction for now and he has referred me to Queen Charlottes Hospital in London for the laser surgery.. which may not be needed if the amnioreduction almost cures them but yeah lets not be too hopeful.
I have put on like 8lb since saturday...! Im still on bedrest and ive got to have these disgusting protein drinks urghh but whatever the dr says! Ive got to go have the amnioreduction tomorrow at 8.30 so I'll let you know how it goes.. And then Ive got dopplers and scans every other day...
God i spend more time at hospital than i do at home/in bed! Oh and ive got to have an echo of both babies hearts to check Beaus heart especially for heart defects, which can have been caused by the excess blood.

Weekend
Iv had such a horrible weekend.
Friday I had quite painful and quite regular Braxton hicks so I went to the hospital and they said they were contractions and I was in preterm labour so I had to go on mag sulfate for 48hours with them monitoring me.
God... it made me sooo sick and then saturday I was all dizzy and couldnt breathe properly so I had to have an oxygen mask and some other drug.
I saw the consultant on saturday and he went through the laser surgery stuff with me because Ive decided to go for the laser surgery because the chances of both babies suviving are the highest. Ive got to go for a scan and colour doppler thing on Tuesday to check i meet all the criteria for the laser surgery.
God this time last week my pregnancy was almost normal :'(
Im now on almost complete bedrest exept im allowed up for an hour every day and then after that only allowed up to go to the loo or to the Drs and the new baby fluid measurements are
Baby A(Beau) 87mm (polyhyramnios)
Baby B(Blair) 17mm (oligohyrdramnios)

My poor twins :(
My poor girlies have TTTS.
Definition so i dont have to explain it over and over lol:
In twins that share a common placenta (known as 'monochorionic' twins), blood vessels within the shared placenta commonly form a "link" between the developing babies. In most cases of monozygotic twins sharing the same placenta these joined vessels can include artery-to-artery, vein-to-vein, and artery-to-vein connections. One theory is that usually these connections balance each other out and cause no ill effect. In TTTS cases, however, it is believed that the joined vessels are imbalanced or are caused to become imbalanced. Essentially blood from the "donor" twin is transfused through the placenta into the "recipient" twin. The fetuses themselves are normal, the abnormality is in the placenta.
Baby A (Beau) is the recipient twin and has Polyhydramnios (maximum vertical pocket of 8 centimeters or more in the recipient twin) shes got 83mm of amniotic fluid.
and Baby B (Blair) is the donor twin and has Oligohydramnios (maximum vertical pocket of 2 centimeters or less in the donor twin) but she has 21mm instead of 20mm as the thing says...They have stage 2 TTTS because Blairs bladder isnt visible on the ultrasound. They do have abnormal doppler colour thingy. The arterial flow in the umbilical cord doesn't cross the line on the doppler thing but it touches it during diastole of the heart beat.
Baby measurements:Baby A is the first number and then Baby B is the second number..
Bipariteal diameter: 59.5 mm 51.9 mm
Occipitofrontal diameter: 56.2 53.9
Head circumference: 197.6 190.8
Abdominal circumference: 187.1 151.3
Femur length: 35.0 34.
Head circumference to femur length: 5.6 5.7
Head circumference to abdominal circumference: 1.05 1.26
Amniotic fluid: 83.0 21.0
Treatment options:
No treatment- 90% mortality rate
Selective abortion- remaining twin will have an 85% chance of survival, and 5% risk of brain damage
Laser surgery- 85% of patients will have at least one fetus survive, 50% will have both survive, with a 5% risk of brain damage
Amnioreduction (draining amniotic fluid from Baby A so the pressure evens out, this could cure it or it could just come back)- 66% chance of at least one fetal survivor, 44% chance of two with an incidence of 15% chance of brain damage
Understand much? I had to make Lily come with me i was in such a panic.. she missed her physics exam aswell lol. And i made her sit there and write down as much of what they were saying as possible.
So all that stuff above is what the Drs said or from some TTTS website.
I dont know what to do!
